Hornwort | Ceratophyllum demersum
Hornwort is very winter hardy in the north and will help keep algae growth to a minimum. A great oxygenating plant that does not need to be planted. Hornwort is a fast growing pond plant that competes with algae for nutrients, helping keep the water clean and clear. Baby fish love to hide in the dense foliage of Hornwort. Hornwort is also known as Coontail, has sturdy, hair-like foliage that oxygenates and clarifies the water. Hornwort does require some water circulation to perform well. It will not do well in stagnant water. Use one bunch for every 2-4 square feet of surface area or one bunch per 20 gallons of water for fish protection and to keep pond crystal clear.
